Know all men by these presents that we Lewis Kelly as principal & John Offutt 
as security all of the parish aforesaid, are held and firmly bound unto L. 
Saunders Parish Judge of said Parish and his assigns in the sum of Two 
hundred dollars money of the United States to which payment well and truly to 
be made we bond ourselves our heirs & firmly by these presents Sealed with 
our seals and noted this 28th day of May 1838. Whereas the above bound Lewis 
Kelly has applied to the Judge of the Parish aforesaid for a license to enter 
into the bonds of matrimony with Miss Mary Litty Offutt, which license will 
be granted on the signing of the bond now the condition of the above 
obligation is such that if there is no legal impediment to the celebration of 
the marriage in contemplation as aforesaid and the same shall be solemnized 
according to the laws & usages of the State of Louisiana then this obligation 
to be void else to remain in full face.

Be it remembered that on the day of the date hereof, Before me Ezra Courtney 
minister of the Gospel authorized to solemnize marriages in the said State 
personally came and appeared Lewis Kelley of the one part and Mary Letty 
Offutt of the Second part both of the State & Parish aforesaid and the 
parties aforesaid declared that it was their intention to intermarry with 
each other and that they do by these presents obligate themselves to each 
other to live together as man and wife while both of them shall live 
Wherefore by virtue of a license first obtained from L Saunders Judge of the 
Parish aforesaid and in the presence of the subscribing witnesses  The Said 
minister of the Gospel declare theSaid Lewis Kelly and Mary Letta Offutt man 
and wife according to the laws of the State aforesaid In testimony whereof 
the parties aforesaid sign this instrument in the presence of me the said 
Minister and in that of the subscribing witnesses this the 31st day of May
